Welcome to the SCOCC
The Saudi Chapter of Obstetric Critical Care was founded by Dr. Hythem Alsum in 2010. The society started to plan and build its infrastructure. Once the programs and bylaws were in place the society started to work on building membership and programs.Dr. Alsum has long been an advocate of improving specialized care for obstetric patients. He became involved with the Saudi Critical Care Society in 2006 where he was an active member.
Dr. Yasser Mandourah, the president of the Saudi Critical Care Society encouraged and supported the creation of the Saudi Chapter of Obstetric Critical Care (SCOCC). The creation of Saudi Chapter of Obstetric Critical Care was approved by the Saudi Critical Care Society Board members. Following the formation of the SCOCC the SCCS board of directors named Dr. Alsum as the chairman of the newly formed society.
Upon the formation of the SCOCC, leaders in the field of obstetrics and high risk pregnancy were invited to join him in his project. The SCOCC named its Board of Directors that included; Dr. Ahmed Almajd Alayoubi, Dr. Bernd Wittmann, Dr. Samer Alharfi, Dr. Nasser Tawfeeq, Dr. Mustafa Alshamiri, Dr. Younes Bakri.
Since its formation, the SCOCC has been very active in obstetrical critical care education. Currently the SCOCC is sponsoring a symposuim on obstetric hemorrhage which is scheduled for October 8th, 2011.
The SCOCC is dedicated to providing leading edge educational programs and supporting its membership in their goal of achieving excellence in the field of obstetrical critical care.
